7. Reference Collection

If your application meets initial requirements we will begin contacting your referees.

Requesting References

If you hold MCNZ registration or have had previous MCNZ registration please click on this Reference Website link to get started on the process.

If you require first time MCNZ registration, then please click on this IMG Reference Website link to get started on the reference collection process. Please inform your referees that these reference requests are in two parts:

• MCNZ RP6 form which will be used for your subsequent MCNZ submission upon job offer acceptance; and 
• The national RMO scored reference form which is used as part of the ranking and selection process
• both sections of the reference form need to be completed

Timeframes

We anticipate that referees will be able to complete a reference within a week.

You will receive an email notification once your referee has completed/submitted the reference.

Your responsibility for references

 You will need to:-

• Directly contact your chosen referees to get agreement that they will act as a referee and inform them of the process
• Actively follow up with your referees to ensure the reference is complete by application close date ideally

Whilst we may follow up with referees, the primary responsibility is yours to ensure these are received in a timely manner. This is why it is important to contact your referees prior to submitting their details to us in case they are on leave and not back for several weeks. Submitting a referee like this would mean a long delay for your application and potentially disadvantage you.

Review of Application

Once your references are received these are assessed by the Recruitment Consultant and Vocational Training Committee or specialty.
