10. Applying for Registration

So you have received an offer of employment and are going to accept. What next?

Confirming Registration Type

1. I am currently registered with MCNZ and have general scope

2. I am currently registered with MCNZ but have not gained general registration

3. I have been registered with MCNZ but it has expired

4. I have never been registered with MCNZ

 

I am registered with MCNZ and have general registration

You do not need to apply for registration. Please continue on to complete our starter documents.

I am registered with MCNZ but have not gained general registration

If you currently hold registration with Medical Council but are only on provisional general scope, you will need to change your supervisor prior to commencing clinical duties in Auckland.

1. Complete your section of the COS1
2. Gain a completed supervision report for the last 3 months. This must be signed by the supervisor listed on your current practising certificate.
3. Submit the above two documents to your recruiter
4. The recruitment administrator will complete the form and submit it to Medical Council on your behalf. Medical Council take a minimum of 20 working days to process an application.

NB: If you hold special purpose scope requirements may differ. Please contact your Recruitment Consultant regarding this.

I have been registered with MCNZ but it has expired

Restoration to the Register

If you previously held permanent registration that was cancelled in error, or at your request, or because you did not respond to MCNZ letters sent to your registered address;MCNZ may restore you to the register. For further information please click here.

On the register but need a new practising certificate

If your registration has expired but you are still on the register please click here for further information.

You will need to submit your application yourself. We do not submit this. Once your registration is renewed/restored you will need to email a copy of your Annual Practising Certificate to our Recruitment Administrator.

For any query in relation to your registration and related documentation for renewal please contact the MCNZ APC team. Ensure you include your offer letter and provide your MCNZ registration number in your email to MCNZ.

I have never been registered with MCNZ

Your registration pathway is dependent on where you completed your primary medical degree.

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK or the USA.

If your country is not listed you may not be eligible for registration. Please contact your Recruitment Consultant for further information.

If you are eligible for registration, MCNZ requires credential verification via the EPIC  service. It is recommended that you start the process right away to avoid any delays in your registration process. Please click here for detailed instructions.
