So you want to come to Auckland as a first year House Officer?
First year positions in the Auckland region are primarily filled by applicants coming via the ACE programme and talent pool. There are occasions where the Auckland region employs outside of the ACE process for any vacancies at PGY1 level, not otherwise filled via ACE.
For new graduates from New Zeland and Australian medical schools, to be considered for a first year position you must meet application requirements as per the Advanced Choice of Employment (ACE) Programme. For further details on this please visit ACE.
If you are eligible to apply for ACE, your application needs to be received within the specified time period and meet requirements to be considered. If you have ranked Auckland, Waitemata, Counties Manukau Health (or all of them), your application will come through to our House Officer Recruiter.
Selection is made in conjunction with the Pre-Vocational Training Committee which oversees House Officers in the Auckland region.
If you are selected for a PGY1 position in the Auckland region we have an allocation policy regarding your House Officer runs.
Please hear below from PGY1s from each District in the Auckland region to find out their initial impression of the District after only three months on the job.
